Public administration has made great effort to provide more sophisticated e-government services: for example, offering one-stop services and supporting personalisation. While strategies, methodologies and the realisation of e-government services vary significantly between the various actors and stakeholders, the alignment of IT with the processes and objectives of the service providers plays an increasing role in service management.
Major critical factors for the success of e-government services, in this context, include methodologies, technologies and tools. Methodologies play an increasingly important role in the management and definition of e-government initiatives. Technologies improve their efficiency and effectiveness while tools allow new specific services and functionalities. The alignment of methodologies, technologies and tools plays an increasing role in enhancing the dissemination, accessibility and acceptance of e-government by citizens and companies.
The issue will carry revised and substantially extended versions of selected papers presented at the 8th International Conference on Methodologies, Technologies and Tools enabling e-Government, but we also strongly encourage researchers unable to participate in the conference to submit articles for this call.
