Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Service Management in China”

International Journal of Services Technology and Management (IJSTM)

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Service Management in China”

Guest Editor: Professor Shunzhong Liu, Northeast Normal University, The People’s Republic of China.

Service management has received increasing interest in developed countries in recent years, but there is a scarcity of literature in this area for developing countries such as China. With China’s accession to the WTO, which implies a further opening of its service market, world attention is increasingly focused on the service industry in China. Service management is a critical element of improving global competitiveness in the Chinese service industry, but is poorly understood.

This special issue of IJSTM provides a focused and timely forum for researchers to explore issues concerning service management in China. In line with the objectives of the journal, we seek papers that will improve the decision making and practice of service firms in China. A wide variety of papers in empirical research, case research and analytical models focusing on the key issues of the theme of this special issue will be considered for publication. The special issue is especially interested in those related topics related to knowledge intensive business services.

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Welding of Aluminium Alloys”

International Journal of Materials and Product Technology (IJMPT)

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Welding of Aluminium Alloys”

Guest Editors:
Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao, Andhra University, India
Dr. G. Madhusudan Reddy, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, India.

Aluminium alloys are gaining importance day by day in all engineering applications in view of their excellent mechanical properties. Welding is an inevitable step in the fabrication of components made of aluminium alloys. Chemical and metallurgical changes that take place during welding affect the mechanical and corrosion behaviour of welds. Recently, new welding processes are being used to overcome some of the problems like heat affected zone softening, partially melted zone cracking and fusion zone cracking.

This special issue is intended to focus on the research related to the all problems during welding of any aluminium alloy. This will helps in finding the reasons and offering better solutions for weldability of aluminium alloys. We invite all the scientific and engineering community to present and discuss their research through this special issue of IJMPT. We therefore formally extend this call for high quality research papers related to the current state of the art and future trends in welding of aluminium alloys.

Social network analysis (SNA) has been gaining momentum for use in many applications, ranging from mapping knowledge flows and gaps in organisations to creating collaborative networks. SNA has developed from the sociology, anthropology and education disciplines, and is a wonderful technique to use for identifying critical knowledge in organisations, relationships between various people within organisations, and to track the flows of knowledge between and within departments. Given this growing importance in SNA, we have decided to dedicate a special issue of IJNVO to SNA.

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Technology Policy vs. Industrial Policy: a Comparison of Overlapping and Competing Approaches to R&D”

International Journal of Technology Management (IJTM)

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Technology Policy vs. Industrial Policy: a Comparison of Overlapping and Competing Approaches to R&D”

Guest Editor: Professor Junmo Kim, Konkuk University, Korea.

Industrial policy has been regarded as a potent tool for R&D policy, yet its 'visible hand' traits have been gradually understood as sources for distortion in the economy and society. With intensified requirements for knowledge economy, societies and governments tended to opt for technology policy for their policy tools for R&D. The seemingly separate concepts, in fact, share much of the same foundation.

Taking the above context as a backdrop, this special issue intends to cover several sub-areas of the theme:

* Firstly, it aims to cover national strategies or international comparison of industrial and technology policy to draw reasonable implications for different constituencies of policies

* Secondly, it will compare the efficacy and limitations of the two approaches to R&D

* Finally, a theoretical discussion on industrial policy and technology policy can also be presented, while all the three sub-areas are better suited with empirical cases and approaches
