Guest Editors:
Pushkin Kachroo, Virginia Tech, USA
Kaan Ozbay, Rutgers University, USA
Anjala S. Krishen, Virginia Tech, USA

Feedback control is a very useful technique for obtaining desired results in real-time conditions for many different applications. Traditionally, feedback control techniques have been used mostly in electro-mechanical systems. However, their framework can be useful in many different applications. Feedback control can be used in not only systems that are mechanical or electrical, but that are also financial, marketing, internet, communication networks, biological, transportation, psychological, educational, etc., systems.

This special issue is intended to present applications of feedback control in non-traditional systems. The papers can present different problems, models and feedback control designs for these applications.

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Design of Experiments (DOE) in Nanomanufacturing”

International Journal of Nanomanufacturing (IJNM)

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Design of Experiments (DOE) in Nanomanufacturing”

Guest Editors: Professor Harriet Black Nembhard, Pennsylvania State University, USA, and Professor Mark J. Jackson, Purdue University, USA

At the nanoscale, the effects of design parameters on product characteristics cannot usually be known purely from phenomenological models and therefore, nanomanufacturing systems often require extensive data collection and analysis. Statistically-based design of experiments (DOE) is playing an important and increasing role in helping to increase the speed of the development cycle time, improve reliability, reduce process variability, and increase overall product and process quality in nanomanufacturing.

Therefore, the goal of this special issue of IJNM is to publish the current state-of-the-art in using design of experiments in nanomanufacturing.

Call for papers: Special issue on “Digital Material Machining and Process Quality Control: A Chinese Perspective”

International Journal of Materials and Product Technology (IJMPT)

Call For papers: Special issue on “Digital Material Machining and Process Quality Control: A Chinese Perspective”

Since 2005, a national basic research programme, entitled “Fundamental Researches on Digital Manufacturing”, has been running in China. Seven projects have been set up under the framework of this programme. Huazhong University of Science and Technology is in charge of this large programme. Research teams from six leading universities in China are working together to solve not only technical problems but also scientific problems concerning digital manufacturing. The ultimate objective is to create a set of theoretic methodologies, enabling technologies, key hardware, and software toolkits in order to use digital manufacturing technology in practice.

With the help of this first special issue, we will report our current research progress on digital material machining and process quality control. Here, the research outcome related to the process quality control is specifically highlighted, taken mainly from the work done by Xi’an Jiaotong University.

In addition, we also invite paper submissions from other Chinese scholars. Furthermore, we take this opportunity to provide a forum for professionals, academics, researchers and engineers around the world interested in studying and using the digital manufacturing, to exchange information with each other.

For more information, subject coverage, notes for intending authors, submission dates and contact information, see the Journal Call for papers website.

Call for papers: Special Issue on: “Teaching Semantic Web: Integration with CS/IS curriculum and Teaching Case Studies”

International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies (IJTCS)

Call For papers: Special Issue on: “Teaching Semantic Web: Integration with CS/IS curriculum and Teaching Case Studies”

Guest Editors:
Martin Hepp, University of Innsbruck, Austria
Jorge Cardoso, Universidade da Madeira, Portugal
Miguel Angel Socilia, University of Alcala, Spain
Miltiadis Lytras, University of Patras, Greece.

Semantic Web in the last few years has been one of the hot topics in the computer science and information systems research agenda. Research and the industrial launch of semantic web applications* has experienced a tremendous evolution. From this point of view, the need to integrate Semantic Web with the computer science and information system curriculum and to develop high quality teaching material for the semantic web is more than critical.

Within this context, Sicilia and Lytras (2006) provide a first attempt to give the general directions of this integration:

"The Semantic Web as a vision for a machine-readable, metadata-intensive Web has resulted in an evolving collection of technologies and tools that deserve attention from the viewpoint of education. Nonetheless, existing approaches to curriculum design for this topic that emphasise on knowledge representation or technical issues should be complemented with an organisational vision that focuses on the value provided by Semantic Web infrastructure as a corporate asset and also by Semantic Web tools built on top of it"
