A special issue of International Journal of Services Technology and Management
The value creation potential of inter-firm collaboration has accelerated a growing number of alliances during the past decade. Benefits in terms of innovation through collaboration encouraged increasing innovation partnerships in various industries. However, very few studies have analysed collaborative service development. One reason resides in a strong tradition of innovation research that promotes new technologies whilst most services industries are rarely considered to undertake formal R&D processes.

Suitable topics include, but are not limited to:

- Trust in service development networks

- Management of service innovation networks
- Knowledge creation and transfer in service development networks
- Property rights in service development networks
- Organisational aspects of service innovation networks
- Collaborative service development, communication and boundary spanning
- International service innovation networks
- Joint service and manufacturing collaborative networks to foster service-product-co-design
