Call for papers: WiMAX Integration in NGN

Call for papers: WiMAX Integration in NGN

A special issue of International Journal of Autonomous and Adaptive Communications Systems

Recently, IEEE 802.16, also known as WiMAX, and its extensions (i.e., 802.16a, 802.16d, 802.16e, 802.16g) have been proposed for broadband wireless access and a solution for last mile access. A Next Generation Network (NGN) is an advanced, packet-based network that exploits multiple broadband, QoS-enabled transport technologies to provide telecommunication services. With WiMAX, NGN can provide wide-area and broadband services to NGN subscribers. Thus, integration of WiMAX in NGN is becoming an emerging research area and should be carefully examined and studied.

This special issue is intended to foster state-of-the-art research in the area of NGN and are expected to focus on all aspects of NGN and to present novel results and solutions to solve various problems and challenges foreseen in future NGNs. The special issue will additionally select high quality papers from the Mobility 2008 Conference, Taiwan, September, 2008.

The special issue will cover the following topical areas but are not limited to them:
  • Modulation, coding, power-efficient signalling of WiMAX in NGN
  • Equalization, channel estimation, synchronization of WiMAX in NGN
  • Radio and digital processing of WiMAX in NGN
  • Channel measurement and modelling of WiMAX in NGN
  • Radio resource allocation, cross-layer design of WiMAX in NGN
  • Mobility management of WiMAX in NGN
  • Security of WiMAX in NGN
  • Network architecture infrastructure integration of WiMAX in NGN
  • Network/radio planning, spectrum, regulations of WiMAX in NGN
  • Deployment, field trials, new services of WiMAX in NGN
  • Multimedia systems and software integration of WiMAX in NGN
