A special issue of International Journal of Surface Science and Engineering
Tribology is a highly interdisciplinary subject involving mechanics, chemistry, physics, material science and engineering. Different surface morphology and mechanical properties greatly affect tribological properties. Various technologies such as surface coating, surface texturing, along with different surface characterization and evaluation are used to control and enhance the tribological performances. Both the processing technology and the fundamental problems of how the different surface morphology and surface mechanical properties affect friction and wear of materials are very important for the tribology community.
The goal of the special issue is to present to researchers and engineers in this technical community a state-of-the-art development of tribology research in surface science and engineering. The introduction of novel techniques for surface texturing, surface characterization and evaluation, as well as their functional applications in different areas, will be presented.
Papers fall into, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- Tribology of coatings
- Tribology of surface and interface
- Friction and wear
- Micro/nano tribology
- Tribo-chemistry
- Industrial tribology
Deadline for submission of manuscripts: 31 March 2009
