Call for papers: Promotion and Management of International Sports

A special issue of the International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing (IJSMM)

Important Dates:

Deadline for submission: 30 June, 2007

Guest Editor: Dr. Li Chen, Delaware State University, USA

International sport is one of the largest segments in sport industry. Current studies (e.g., Chelladurai, 2006; Pitts & Pedersen, 2005) indicated that there is dearth of research endeavour given to managing and promotion of international sports. As sport management represents a fast-growing discipline, the analytic effort of promoting and managing international sports (e.g., Olympic Games, World Cup) should not be underrepresented or overlooked.

The issues related to international sport management include managing Olympic Games, ethical and legal aspects, governance and policies of international sports, risk and financial management, political and economic impacts, facility and event management, marketing and promotion, as well as human resource management related to international sport organisations.

The aim of this special issue is to provide more opportunity and an outlet for researchers and practitioners to contribute to a scholarly body of knowledge on the promotion and management of Olympic events and international sport. Either quantitative analyses or qualitative studies are encouraged. Both theoretical research and empirical contributions are welcome.
