Embedded systems are increasingly becoming a key technological component in all kinds of complex technical systems including telephones, audio-video equipment, vehicles, aircraft, toys, security systems, medical diagnostics, manufacturing systems, climate control systems, intelligent power systems, etc.
This special issue will provide an opportunity for academic and industry professionals to discuss the latest issues and progress in smart embedded solutions for complex systems. It will address the state of the art of all aspects of embedded computing systems with emphasis on algorithms, systems, models, architectures, tools, design methodologies, tests and applications in relation to complex systems. In addition, we expect this issue will be a trigger for further related research and technology improvements in this important area.
Suitable topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Networked and complex embedded systems
- The application of machine intelligence in embedded systems
- High-performance embedded system architecture
- Specification languages and tools for embedded systems
- Hardware/software trade-offs and codesign
- Smart control of complex systems
- Case studies and practical applications of smart systems ( e.g. smart transportation, smart grids, smart buildings, smart medicine)
