A special issue of International Journal of Six Sigma and Competitive Advantage
This special issue aims to publish research that leverages lean six sigma in clinical and business processes to confront the challenges for quality and cost savings in healthcare systems. The last decade has witnessed lean six sigma being successfully implemented in healthcare institutions across the United States, since the Commonwealth Health Corporation launched its six sigma initiative in March 1998. At the time of its ten-year anniversary, this special issue aims to attract research on lean and six sigma methodologies in healthcare and to share experiences amongst healthcare practitioners and researchers.
Topics in health care include, but are not limited to:

- Lean and six sigma application (case studies)
- Integration of lean and six sigma strategies
- Selection and use of the tools and techniques of six sigma
