International Journal of Bioinformatics Research and Applications 3(1) 2007 is a special issue: Biomedical data engineering and includes some papers from the First International Workshop on Biomedical Data Engineering held in Tokyo on 3-4 April 2005 in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering, 2005.
