This special issue will discuss recent research progress on engineering design for safety and reliability. Engineering design is the process of devising a system, component, or process to meet desired needs. It is a decision-making process in which the basic science and mathematics and engineering sciences are applied to convert resources optimally to meet an objectives. The objective of this special issue will be to bring together research contributions on the basic sciences, mathematics, and engineering sciences to apply engineering knowledge and specialist techniques to prevent or to reduce the likelihood or frequency of failures for safety and reliability.
Suitable topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Safety and risk in engineering design
- Reliability engineering
- Reliability, availability and serviceability
- Reliability theory of aging and longevity
- Quality control, reliability, safety and risk
- Safety engineering design
- Manufacturing, machines, tools safety
- Innovative technology for safety management
- Civil engineering safety design
