Engine combustion optimisation and control plays an important role in vehicle fuel economy and emissions. Substantial progress has been made in understanding the combustion process, combustion modelling for real-time simulations and model-based combustion control and optimisation.
However, as new engine sensing and actuating systems become available, engine combustion optimisation becomes a multi-degree of freedoms control problem, which requires the application of advanced control schemes such as model-based control, adaptive control, model-reference control, etc.
The primary objective of this special issue is therefore to compile state of the art research and development efforts in engine combustion modelling and hardware-in-the-loop simulation, combustion optimisation and mode transition, combustion optimisation, closed loop combustion control and so on.
Suitable topics include but are not limited to:
- Engine combustion optimisation
- Closed loop and model-based combustion control
- Combustion mode transition
- Engine combustion modelling for model-based control
- Hardware-in-the-loop simulations
- Advanced combustion control techniques
