The term big data is used almost anywhere these days; from news articles to professional magazines, from tweets to YouTube videos and blog discussions. The term coined by Roger Magoulas from O'Reilly media in 2005, refers to a wide range of large data sets almost impossible to manage and process using traditional data management tools - due to their size, but also their complexity.
Over recent years, there has been a lot of research on big data. This special issue will bring out the recent research on big data analysis on various signals and imaging systems. Big data has become the demand of the future. Hence a collection of research papers on this area for this special issue would be very useful and interesting to the readers and also a good contribution to the research community.
Suitable topics include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Time series big data
- Predictive learning from big data
- Big data for image and video analysis
- Bio-Inspired big data learning
- Machine learning methods from big data
- Optimisation techniques for big data analytics
- Signal processing for big data
- Big data in VLSI applications
