A special issue of International Journal of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing
RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) technology has been one of the most popular research topics in recent years. Besides its original use of replacing barcodes, RFID has permeated many other fields such as supply chain automation, asset tracking, medical applications, people tracking, manufacturing, retail, warehouses, livestock, timing, and so on. Its applications are limited only by imagination.
As a result, it can be expected that RFID will be embedded into many objects, whether large or small, mobile or stationary, with or without your knowing. Its ubiquity raises many issues such as availability, reliability, security, privacy, and so on. Behind all these RFID applications and issues, a computing framework exists to support their normal and continuous functioning. It includes the front-end readers, the middleware, the networking, the backend databases or programs, and many others. How to make all these systems integrate seamlessly and flawlessly is very important.
This special issue aims to foster state-of-the-art research in the area of RFID related computing and is expected to focus on all aspects of RFID technologies and to present novel results and solutions to solve the various problems and challenges in RFID applications.
We encourage the submission of innovative and mature results in designing, analysing, and developing technology, services, and applications of RFID computing. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
